Oh Darling!

I am just in love with Kris's new line of "Hello Dollies" that are Valentine themed! I am normally not a Valentines day sort of gal--as anyone who knows me well will attest, I am more likely to snort, roll my eyes and make gagging noises at overly romantic stuff. I think it has something to do with the fact that my idea of romantic doesn't always jive with the more traditional cupids and bows sentiment. For me, having my hubby hold my hair while I'm deathly ill from the flu and dry heaving, is the hight of romance--not exactly the sort of thing Hallmark makes a card for.
But I digress.
Back to the Dollies--they are so cute, they move even me to creating something sweet and love-dovey.
Here is a collage I made using a couple of images from her sheet. The main girl and the flowers. Take a look:

I think my favorite part of this piece is the wings--they were cut out of netting and then I dipped them in beeswax and then dusted them with perfect pearls. It was one of those serendipity moments, I was working with beeswax for the background and looking at the netting thinking to myself "Gee, I wish I could figure out a way to make these stiffer..." and then I saw the beeswax and thought "what the hey." It turned out really well. Here is a close-up.

Hope everyone had a good weekend and I'll see you soon!

Back

Last week was a bad one for me. I got sick with the flu and then my Hubby got sick. He is actually still sick, laying upstairs in our room coughing and keeping me running for OJ and soup. It's no fun being sick....and I didn't get hardly anything done this week because of it. Most of my time was spent washing sheets and towels and spraying things obsessively with Lysol. When people get sick I turn into Adrienne Monk. I just can't help it. All that sneezing and coughing makes me yearn for a hazmat suit!
I did manage to squeeze in a little art while my hubby was napping. Here are 2 cards that I made as part of my design team work with Retro Cafe Art Gallery.

I need to get hopping and get the rest of my valentines done, but first I'm going to get on ebay and see what a hazmat suit runs. They can't be that much can they?

Wednesday Stamper

The theme for this weeks Wednesday Stamper is "Valentine" so, of course, I used my husband Eddy as my subject. This card was made using an inkjet transfer onto a piece of scrapbooking paper. It is my husband and I on our wedding day. (I actually remember the moment the photo was taken, our wedding party was milling around waiting for the photographer to get started, and Eddy and I were able to have our first private moment in what felt like forever. Turns out it wasn't so private after all!) I then layered it onto a piece of white card stock and then onto a piece of pink card stock which I stamped with the words "Dream, Believe, and Imagine" repeatedly in pink. The big word love is a stamp by Heidi Swapp--who has a whole line of wonderful word stamps that are very reasonably priced. I put glitter glue in the center of the flowers for the buds and a valentine was born.
