Ghost Stamping

So today I worked on an Altered book page using a technique I think of as "ghost stamping." I take a large foam stamp and stamp into thickly painted wet gesso. When it dries it looks something like this.
Then I go over it using a glazing medium mixed in with paint. When the first layer is dry, I go over the stamps in a contrasting color and viola: a beautiful finished product! It's almost too pretty to write on.
