New Necklaces

My family is having a reunion this weekend. We don't normally go, but it's the 30th anniversary and so we're going. There's always an auction and I've made 2 necklaces to put in the auction. This first one is a new design that Coffee Break Designs is working on for a heart shrine (It might go through some changes still...) I inked it using chalk and metallic inks and stamped with stazon. Glued in the collage and sealed it using UTEE.

This lovely charm and the image in it both come from Retro Cafe Art Gallery. I drilled two holes in it and turned it into a necklace. I wove the bird's nest out of wire.

A necklace for my Grandmother

I finished this necklace yesterday for my Grandmother. It's a belated mother's day present. originally, I tried making her a pin, because she is the kind of person who wears pins, but I had nothing but trouble with it. Finally, I gave-up. Which is rare for me. Normally, I stick it out. Oh well.
But I came up with this instead:
The acrylic shrine tag is from Retro Cafe Art Gallery. The man in the photo is my grandfather, who passed away a few years ago. (I don't know why there are those weird spots on the charm in this picture, because in real life there aren't any.) The heart charm is shrink plastic that I embossed with pearl-ex and them stamped onto when cool.

ETSY

I have finally done it--I've opened an ETSY store. I don't have very much in it right now...I have a couple more pieces that are about half finished, that should be going up sometime soon. It was a lot more work than I thought it would be....mostly figuring out what to charge for shipping and all that. Here are a couple of pictures of pieces I have up for sale. One of them is the piece I showed at the end of my last post all finished in necklace form. The other is a canceled British postage stamp. It was actually difficult for me to list that one, because I wanted to keep it for myself! I am just in love with the heart cancellation mark over her crown.

I have some new journal pages done, I will try to get them posted tommrow. In the meantime, happy Wednesday everyone.

Some Work

I haven't gotten a lot done in the past few days--mostly because I started sleeping again and that really cuts into my productivity. There really aren't enough hours in the day.
But I have been working on some necklaces. They're mostly mock-ups for designs I'm, considering. I am hoping to have some stuff up in my Etsy store in the next month or so...but it seems like there are a lot of ducks to get into a row for that to happen.
In the meantime, here are a few of my pieces:

Faux Fantastic

I taught at the Heirloom festival this weekend--and had an absolute blast! I bought some great new supplies and got to hang out with some amazing other artists.
And then, I came home and promptly got sick. Sore throat, fever, achy, ugh. But I am feeling better today. I spent some time in my studio today creating some samples for a class I'll be teaching at a retreat in April called Faux Fantastic with Perfect Pearls. The samples I got done today were a faux mosaic and a faux beach glass pendant. Here they are:

I am hoping to have the full information for the glass soon--and once I do I'll post it here. In the meantime, I'm going back to my studio to play with my new stuff!

Back

I've been gone for a while--obviously. My computer needed repair and had to be shipped in and then fixed and shipped back. The whole thing took a bit of doing. It's funny how used to having a computer I've become. I had to keep reminding myself that 10 years ago I went without internet access and lived without constantly updating my ipod. Sigh. It was still difficult.
But in the absence of my computer I got my druthers together and started re-organizing my studio. I have to say, I was inspired by looking at so many other artist's lovely, organized spaces online. I had a good firm conversation with myself about the tornado ravaged mess of a studio and told myself in no uncertain terms that all that "stuff" languishing in boxes needed to be sorted through, labeled and organized. I am almost done. It's a big project--I'm even going so far as to sort all my little bits and pieces (like game pieces, buttons and beads) into containers with labels on them. When I'm done, I will post pictures here so everyone can see the results.
In the mean time, I did make this necklace and thank you card for my lovely Aunt Marie, who must have ESP, because she sent me a new paper trimmer RIGHT AFTER my old one broke. The images on both the card and the necklace are by Retro Cafe Art Gallery.

Goodness, goodness, goodness!

Where did the week go? I have no idea. It's like a lost three whole days in there somewhere! I have very little work to show for this week, mostly because I am working on a couple of really big projects that are slow going. But tonight I did sit down and make a little charm necklace because I was feeling the need for some instant-art-gratification. Here it is:

I know it's hard to tell, because there is a glare in the first picture, but there is a little baby bird sitting in the house! Hopefully I will get my big projects done this weekend and have more work to show.
Happy Friday everyone!
