Wednesday Stamper

The theme for this week's Wednesday Stamper is stripes and since I don't have any stripped stamps, I made this using my handy dandy ink blending tool! The Laughter stamp is by Hero Arts and the clown is a Zettiology stamp. For step-by-step instructions on making the stripes, scroll on down this post!

To do this project you will need glossy cardstock, ink blending tool (or make-up sponges which can be used for stazon/glossy cardstock combination), Stazon inks in various colors and painter's tape.


Take strips of painters tape and mask off the glossy cardstock. Like so:

Using your ink blending tool, ink up and then ink the cardstock. You want to pull it in straight lines and not in circles. Here is what it will look like:

Then, remove the tape and you will be left with little stripes.
You can then re-lay new tape down, covering the stripes and repeat the previous steps with a different color.

If you really want to get wild, you can lay the tape, stamp and then ink. I like to use two different shades of the same color, like light brown and dark brown. Here is what it looks like with the tape still on:

Pull up the tape and viola!

Wednesday Stamper

The theme for this week's Wednesday Stamper is insects. So I pulled out my dragonfly stamp by Stamper's Anonymous and made this:

I used the ink blending technique I talked about the other day, except I worked the ink all the way across. When it was dry I spritzed it with some ink mixed with water and pearl ex powder to give it a little sparkle. Of course, it didn't show up very well in the scan, since my scanner doesn't like metallic things. But you can see the green spots.

The theme for this week's Wednesday Stamper is button fairies. I'd never made one of these before, but now I'm completely hooked! Here is mine:


I used a butterfly stamp by Stampington & Company for the wings. I heated up some fun-foam and then stamped into it. When it was cool, I painted it. The image of the little girl is by Retro-Cafe Art Gallery.

Wednesday Stamper

The theme this week over on the Wednesday Stamper is the Gothic arch. As soon as I saw the challenge I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I used the template design provided on the site to make a necklace out of shrink plastic. Here it is all closed up. I used perfect pearls on the front before I heated it to give it that nice sparkle.

Then here is the inside with the doors open. The stamp is by Lost Coast Designs. I colored her in using chalks and perfect pearls and then shrunk. For some reason the scan came out a little blurry, in reality her colors really pop.

And just to give you an idea of scale, here it is in my hand.

Wednesday Stamper

This week the Wednesday stamper is open themed. So I got out some of my new supplies and created this tag:
I used some perfect pearls mixed with Milled Lavender Distress Ink for the whole of the tag. It's difficult to see how metallic it is in this scan, but it really shines. Once it was dry, I roughed up the edges using a distresser. I stamped the swirls in Milled Lavender and Worn Lipstick and then the word Love in brown ink. The tag and the heart are from Tim Holz's new Grungeboard line. I used a combination of ink and Perfect Pearls on both of them, and the new distress hammer on the brads for the tag.
Whew. That is a lot of stuff.
But then, that was my goal, to play with all my stuff :)

Wednesday Stamper

The theme for this week's Wednesday Stamper is words. And as it happens I was working on this page in a little circle book I'm making that had a bunch of words on it. Here it is:
The swirl stamp is by Inkadinkado and although you really can't see it I used a Paperbag studios stamp for some of the under text. Of course It's sort of hiding beneath the paint and gesso.

The theme for this week's Wednesday Stamper is diamonds. So here is my creation:

I used some chipboard tiles and distressed them using the new Ranger crackle paints. I rubbed a little brown distress ink into th cracks and then stamped them with a variety of stamps.

The theme for this week's Wednesday Stamper is Autumn colors. I was working on a set of Halloween themed tags as part of another project and thought they'd be a perfect fit. They are 2 sided, the background is twinkling h20s, the skull stamp is by Inkadinkado as is the swirl, the bird is by Invoke and the "Happy Halloween" stamp is by stampendous. I used the stazon glue pad and some colored mica for the glitter.

The theme for this weeks Wednesday Stamper is "Moo Cards" which are small cards about half the size of business cards. I had a lot of fun with this challenge. The background is alcohol inks on glossy card stock. I then stamped a Paperbag studios stamp (the diamond) and the bird is by Hero Arts. This one was so much fun to make--I'm off to try another!

I have been out of the Wednesday Stamper loop for over a month now what with moving and all. But I am ready to get back into the swing of things. Here is my entry for this week's theme which is blue.

The brown flower stamp is by Hero Arts and the paisley stamp (in the lower right hand corner) is by Stampabilities.

Wednesday Stamper

The Wednesday stamper is having an open theme for the next couple of weeks--so I decided to submit this little card that I made. The robot stamp was something that I picked-up at a warehouse sale for a dollar and have never used, so I thought I'd give it a try. I painted him in with some twinkling h2os and then gave him a hat. I used one of my alphabet stamps for the text. The stamp has a lot of detail and if you click on the picture you'll get a better view of what it really looks like.

The theme for this weeks Wednesday stamper is Eggs. I have a couple of little egg stamps by Invoke Arts which I used on this page--but I really wanted a nice big egg for my focal point, so I cut one out and colored it using ink and added the spots using a pencil's eraser. The wings on the girl is a stamp by stampington and company. The background swirls are by Autumn Leaves.

The theme for this weeks Wednesday Stamper is doors. Since I don't own any stamps with doors on them I decided to make my own little door out of Popsicle sticks. The girl stamp is by Lost Cost Designs and the grass at the bottom is a swirl stamp by Autumn Leaves.
My other big accomplishment this weekend was baking these yummy cupcakes. They've got chunks of pineapple in them and the frosting is cream-cheese with coconut. I think I'm going to go and eat another one right now!

The theme for this weeks Wednesday Stamper is cars, so I created this little ATC, using a dyed baby wipe that I sewed onto the ATc Back. The sun stamp is just one I picked up for a dollar at Jo-Anns, and the man in the car is a Tim Holtz stamp.

The theme for this week's Wednesday Stamper is "eyes". I created this piece using a stamp by Hampton Arts. It's actually face, that I inked with a dabber, so that just the eye would be stamped. I stamped it repeatedly on some purple card stock. And then cut out the dress to attach. The words are stamped onto electrical repair tape. I wanted it to match the gaffer's tape word "fresh." The background I made using spray paint.

The theme for this weeks Wednesday Stamper is "At the movies." I selected the movie Now Voyager, becuase it is my absolute favorite movie of all time. I am a huge Bette Davis fan and consider her to be one of my heros. I used a a star background stamp by Stampabilities which I embossed with some pearl-ex and clear embossing powder. When it was dry I edged the cardstock with some pink ink and printed out the line from the movie. I then punched out the stars and cut out the moon and was done. It's a little simple, but I wanted the picture and the quote to be the focus.

The theme for this week's Wednesday Stamper is "white." So I created this page in my art journal using a peeled paint stamping technique. First I layered on some true white paint, when that was dry I stamped alpha collage stamp by Hampton Arts and some embossing ink. I embossed it using UTEE and then layered parchment white paint on top of it. Once it was dry, I heated up my craft iron and using a piece of scrap paper ironed over the surface. When I lifted the scrap paper the under coating of true white showed through in a peeled texture. I then stamped the image of Queen Elizabeth and constructed her dress. It's actually been layered with a piece of tulle and attached the little stars. I added the flowers, and the text and was finished.

The theme for this week's Wednesday Stamper is Paris. When I think of Paris, I think of the Parisian women, fashionable, mysterious and aloof. So, I created this little tag to try to emulate that feeling. The background is a page from a French book, the coloring is alcohol inks onto a transparency. I stamped the woman on top using stazon ink, and then rubbed the flowers on. (I believe they are Basic Grey's Holy Cow line, but I'm not positive because I lost the envelope they came in.) And then wrote "La Belle Femme" (The beautiful Lady) with a Sharpie. I finished it off by tying some fibers at the top.

The theme for this weeks Wednesday Stamper is butterflies and as soon as I saw it, I knew what I wanted to do. I used some twinkling h2o's to stamp the blue and green portion of the butterfly stamp--which is from Viva Las Vegas Stamps--and then when it was dry over stamped it with the text in brown ink. I then used the same blue twinkling h20's' to stamp the same text over the green card stock. Although it's hard to see from this scan, it's actually mounted onto a cream card.

Wednesday Stamper

The theme for this week's wednesday stamper is shoes. Oddly enough, I don't own a single stamp that has a shoe on it, so i got to thinking and decided to make a giant shoe out of fun foam. I was thinking about the children's rhyme about the woman who lived in a shoe. After cutting out my shoe shape, I heated the fun foam and pressed my alphabet jumble stamp into it. When it was cool, I painted it with acrylic and then dabbed some ink onto the top of it so that the stamping would show up a bit better. The background is an old piece of organ music, that I stamped grass and stars onto. I cut it down to fit in my art journal as a tip in.
